Fading out long before it's able to cohere into anything memorable, Song One has its heart in the right place (on its sleeve) -- it's just in desperate need of a few strong hooks.. Dance scenes feel like a diversion, since the story, acting and dialogue are sadly lacking in originality and substance.. Reeks of artificiality and phoney emotion.. Promises to hit all the urban-dance hallmarks with sledgehammer intensity.. . Doesn't measure up.. I can't quite recommend it, but... for a certain demog...
